About Starlight Dance Academy

The Academy opened in 2004, providing a fun, stimulating approach to the performing arts in a happy, friendly atmosphere. A wide variety of classes are available throughout the week, currently in Thames Ditton and Esher, Surrey.

All teaching staff are fully qualified, first aid trained and CRB checked.

NEW PUPILS

We welcome new and prospective pupils throughout the academic year, from 18 months to adult. If you are interested in joining a class please call 01276 474 704 to confirm times, dates and lesson availability.

Below are the answers to commonly asked questions....

 

FEES -

New pupils are invited to take a trial period of four weeks to ensure they are happy and settled with their choice of class before committing to a full term. Fees are invoiced for the four week trial then again for the remainder of the term. There is a 5% discount for siblings and for pupils taking 5 or more classes a week.

 

CLOTHING -

Please wear comfortable clothing to class and bare feet, to avoid slipping. After the four week trial all pupils are required to wear full Academy uniform which can be purchased from the Academy shop on a Wednesday or Saturday, alternatively via our Members online shop.

 

EXAMINATIONS -

Pupils are entered for examinations throughout the year. IDTA, RAD, BTDA and LAMDA examinations are optional. The Principal will assess each individual pupil to ensure they are ready for entry.

 

EXTRA CURRICULAR -

We enter pupils for various extra curricular activities, such as festivals, shows and dance workshops covering non-syllabus work.

Learning about dance will provide your child with the opportunity to: Have fun through movement and exercise Explore and develop their imagination and creativity Discover and develop their sense of rhythm Express their emotions and feelings Learn about other peoples and cultures, past and present

 

NATIONAL CURRICULUM -

Dance has become a major feature in the physical education programme which is studied by all school children under 11 years old. Dance is an excellent way for children to explore movement, gain confidence and learn about cultures the world over.
